Creating a secure cyber culture
- MOPAS fosters a secure and reliable cyberspace with its personal information security system, which effectively responds to increased hacking and other on-line attacks.
- The establishment of the Korea Internet Center and the introduction of information security diagnosis system have reduced damages from hacking and personal information leakage in the cyberspace.
Enforcing policies for personal information security
- The Act on the Protection of Personal Information has been enacted to protect personal information circulating in both public and private sectors.
- ”Public I-PIN” service has been adopted to prevent resident registration information leakage and identity theft.
- MOPAS actively carries out online education programs to raise user awareness of personal information protection. In addition, the Ministry conducts privacy impact assessments to prevent the leakage of personal information.
Combating Internet addiction
- With Internet addiction emerging as a serious social problem, MOPAS has established the 'i-Action 2012' strategy to tackle the issue.
*i-Action 2012: A national strategy encompassing preventive measures to fight Internet addiction
- The i-Action 2012 project aims to reduce the current 8.8% internet addiction rate to 5% by 2012 through counseling and software provision as well as fostering of 10,000 professional counsellors.
